But in the backyard of a small house in Huntington Beach, California, a group of young musicians were about to change all that. These musicians were Suicidal Tendencies, and their frontman was Mike Muir.
Muir was a self-proclaimed "outcast" who had been drawn to heavy metal as a teenager. He was influenced by the early pioneers of the genre, such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, but he also had a unique vision for what heavy metal could be.

In 1982, Suicidal Tendencies released their debut album, Suicidal Tendencies. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to revitalize the heavy metal genre.
Suicidal Tendencies followed up their debut album with a string of successful albums, including Join the Army (1987),How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today (1988),and Lights...Camera...Revolution! (1990).
These albums helped to cement Suicidal Tendencies' status as one of the most important heavy metal bands of the 1980s. They also helped to inspire a new generation of heavy metal bands, such as Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth.
In the years since their debut album, Suicidal Tendencies have continued to release music and tour the world. They have remained one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time.
