Read an Excerpt from The Best of Down Goes Brown

I've been covering hockey for over a decade now, and I've seen a lot of strange things. But I've never seen anything quite as strange as the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs are one of the most storied franchises in hockey history. They've won 13 Stanley Cups, more than any other team in the league. But they haven't won a Cup since 1967, and they've only made it to the Stanley Cup Final once in the past 50 years.

So what's the problem with the Leafs? It's hard to say. They have a lot of talented players, and they've had some good coaches over the years. But for whatever reason, they can't seem to put it all together.

Some people say that the Leafs are cursed. Others say that they're just unlucky. But I think the biggest problem with the Leafs is that they're too afraid to fail.

The Leafs are always under a lot of pressure to win. They're playing in one of the biggest hockey markets in the world, and their fans are incredibly passionate. But that pressure can be paralyzing.

The Leafs need to learn to embrace failure. They need to be willing to take risks and make mistakes. If they can do that, they might finally be able to break their championship drought.
