Moe began his career in vaudeville as a child. He formed the Three Stooges with Shemp and Curly in 1925. The trio quickly became one of the most popular comedy acts in the country. They starred in dozens of short films and feature films, as well as appearing on radio and television.

Shemp was a kind and gentle man. He was always willing to help others, and he was a loyal friend to his brothers. Offscreen, Shemp was a devoted family man. He was married to Gertrude Frank from 1923 until her death in 1954.
