The golden age of professional tennis was a time of great excitement and innovation. The game was played on grass courts, and the players used wooden rackets. The serve was the most important shot in the game, and players often hit it with great power and accuracy. The net game was also important, and players often used volleys and drop shots to win points.

The biggest stars of the golden age were Bill Tilden, Ellsworth Vines, and Pancho Segura. Tilden was the most successful player of his era, winning 10 Grand Slam titles. Vines was a powerful hitter who won the U.S. Open in 1931 and 1932. Segura was a brilliant all-court player who won the French Open in 1951 and 1952.
