About the Author

Patrick F. McManus is an American humorist and author best known for his hilarious essays about outdoor adventures gone awry. Born in Spokane, Washington, in 1933, McManus spent his childhood immersed in nature, which later became a major source of inspiration for his writing.

McManus began his writing career as a newspaper columnist and later transitioned to writing books. His first book, "A Fine and Pleasant Misery," was published in 1969 and became an instant bestseller. Over the years, McManus has written over 20 books, many of which have been adapted into popular television shows.
