Desert Diplomat: Inside Saudi Arabia Following 9/11
In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Saudi Arabia found itself at a crossroads. The country had long been a close ally of the United States, but the attacks raised questions about the nature of that relationship. Was Saudi Arabia a partner in the fight against terrorism, or a source of support for it? Could the country be reformed, or was it destined to remain a breeding ground for extremism?
